Korean ginseng

Panax ginseng

Overview

In traditional Chinese medicine, the most highly prized ginseng roots are those whose shape resembles that of a man, reflecting the herb's traditional reputation as a vitality tonic.

Usage

Korean ginseng is traditionally used to enhance the body's capacity for dealing with physical, emotional, mental and environmental STRESS. It is specifically indicated during periods of low vitality or FATIGUE, and is considered a potent energy tonic. Korean ginseng may be taken alone, but is often taken with other herbs that help relieve STRESS, tension and FATIGUE. Important ingredients to look for include Siberian ginseng, withania, oats, rhodiola, licorice and gotu kola. This combination helps a STRESSed body to re-build the strength and resilience of worn-out adrenal glands, and also supports IMMUNITY. It is ideal to take during times of weakness, exhaustion or ongoing STRESS. Korean ginseng also has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine as a tonic for the male reproductive system. Its reputation is validated by clinical studies in which it has shown the ability to improve men's libido and sexual performance. Given its additional effects on STRESS-coping mechanisms, it may be particularly beneficial when erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems are associated with STRESS, FATIGUE or emotional overload. For women, Korean ginseng is often combined with hormone-balancing and STRESS-relieving herbs in a MENOPAUSE relief formula that helps relieve symptoms such as FATIGUE, ANXIETY, hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness and fluid retention. Important ingredients to look for include red clover, vitex, dong quai, sage, licorice and black cohosh.

Instructions

To support energy levels and the ability to cope with STRESS, take 1.4g Korean ginseng per day, with other nervous system tonics such as Siberian ginseng, gotu kola, oats, rhodiola, withania, and licorice To relieve symptoms of MENOPAUSE, take 417mg Korean ginseng twice daily, with other herbs that support the female reproductive and nervous systems, such as red clover, vitex, wild yam, dong quai, licorice, sage and black cohosh
